Today we are getting all the way into how to have an effective mid-year reset!
I strongly believe that a mid-year reset is very necessary as we normally lose momentum towards the end of March (me included). As soon as the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, many see this as a fresh start (as we should!), we bring out our overly ambitious new years resolutions and try and cut out all of our bad habits cold turkey. Usually, this lasts for about a month or so until we lose all of our motivation and drive resulting in us starting to trickle back into our old ways.
This is why I believe a mid-year reset is so important because it allows us to have a mini do-over by reviewing and reflecting on what has taken place over the last 6 months.
In my case, the first 3 months my motivation was high, I replaced most of my bad habits with new ones and I felt a huge shift in my mental and physical health. However, by the end of March, university started to take over and I lost my focus. I started prioritising the wrong people and my bad habits started to resurface, one being sleeping and waking up late.
So today is the first day of change to try and create habits we want our future selves to have! Let’s get started…
This step is all about reflecting.
Before you get into your mid-year reset, you need to reflect on your past self and goals. Take your time and really think about the following questions, write them down and read over your answers. When you are happy with them, you can start making a change and a plan to help you move forward.
Questions to ask yourself:
The first half of 2021 has really flown by, it is so easy to lose sight and focus on your 2021 goals. Look back on the questions that you answered in step 1. If you aren’t happy with the place you are currently at, it is time to review and change your goals. A lot can change in 6 months, in fact, it is a good sign to see some sort of growth within yourself so consequently, your goals may have shifted slightly.
Underneath your answers to the questions above, write your new and improved 2021 goals. If you felt that you were a little over-ambitious with your goals at the beginning of the year, try and really be clear with exactly what you want to achieve in the next 6 months.
Starting afresh mid year can seem a little daunting as there is no big buildup like a new year, so finding a little inspiration to get you going will give you an initial push.

Creating some sort of plan, will skyrocket your chances of you reaching your goals. So, how exactly are you going to attain your goal? What steps are you going to follow?
Once you have an idea, you can move onto the next step…
One of the most effective ways to help you keep on top of your goals is to track your process daily. After you have written the “big” goal you would like to achieve, write mini steps that you can take to help you achieve that goal.

STEP ONE: Fill out the day and the date
STEP TWO: Write 3 things you are grateful for
STEP THREE: Underneath “GOAL 1” write one of the goals you wrote in step 2 of the mid-year reset
STEP FOUR: In the column under the phrase “in order to achieve I must”, write your “mini-goals” that you need to achieve in order to complete your goal
STEP FIVE: Repeat step 4 for all of your goals
STEP SIX: Tear the sheet off and pin it somewhere you will see it every day, to act as a little reminder
Don’t forget that it will take time. Don’t rush to complete your goal. Take your time and pace yourself.
There will be times where you are not motivated, however, don’t lose sight of your goal. Good things don’t come easy.
